BodyTalk, Balancing the Cortices

CORTICES is the plural of cortex which is the outer layer of the brain called the cerebrum (the cerebral cortex), composed of folded gray matter and playing an important role in consciousness.

"One of the very important things about balancing the cortices is that it helps to shift the body and mind out of ‘fight or flight’ (sympathetic) and into ‘growth and healing‘ (parasympathetic).

We often get stuck in flight or flight which causes great stress to the body, and breaks down those communication pathways in the body. It’s like too many plugs are plugged in and our circuits ‘blow’. This causes us to get stuck in a stressful state, and from this place, everything is more difficult - including healing.

Balancing the cortices also balanced the right/left brain which is fundamental for a healthy body and mind.

The right brain is the more intuitive side, imagination and it can work holistically - looking at the big picture. It is responsible for our creativity and and artistic abilities.

The left brain is responsible for our reasoning, logic and thought. It looks at the details and works in a linear way therefor it is slower. It is our knowledge and our learned behaviors.

What we would like is to have both sides of the brain working together to provide us with the ability to connect to the big pictures whilst knowing the details, have logic AND intuition, be able to be aware of where we’re going at the same time as knowing the steps to take.

Balancing the cortices daily starts to bring the body and brain back to a state of health where we can naturally move between different events without getting stuck in fight or flight and start to live using our whole brain.

I highly recommend balancing your cortices in the morning when you wake up, before you go to sleep, and if you have any kind of shock or trauma. If you have an accident, a headache, cut yourself, are stressed out, or receive some bad news.

Karen explains each EFT tapping point, what it releases, what it allows and which Meridian each point is connected to.


Hand Point
♦ ♦ KC (1) Karate Chop Point - The Karate Chop point is mainly used for; the EFT setup statement, psychological reversals and simple tapping techniques (STT). It is an alternative for the sore spot EFT point.

The karate chop point is located on the soft fleshy part of the non-dominant hand, between the base of the pinky finger and the wrist. We would use this is the part of the hand break a board... 'karate chop' style.

Releases: psychological reversal (feeling stuck or frozen), inability to let go, resistance to change, sorrow, feeling vulnerable, worry, obsession, compulsive behavior.

Allows: Ability to move forward, letting go of the old, healing from grief, finding happiness in and connecting to the present moment. (Small Intestine Meridian)

Head, Face and Body Tapping Points
♦ ♦ TH (2) Top of Head Point - This point (set of points) is located at the top of the head and was added several years ago at an EFT conference. Since then, it has been widely accepted by Gary Craig and many of the others in the EFT community.

This is an important energy center since many meridians meet at the top of the head. It is also in the area of the 7th. or Crown Chakra, which is a spiritual energy center. Some say that stimulating this area wakes up the entire energy system and encourages the body-mind to pay attention to what we are about to address. This point is highly sensitive and its important to be very gentle when tapping!

Releases: Inner critic, 'gerbil wheel' thinking, lack of focus.

Allows: Spiritual connection, insight, intuition, focus, wisdom, spiritual discernment, clarity. ('Hundred Meeting Points' Meridian)

♦ ♦ EB (3) Eyebrow Point - This point is located on the dominant side at the beginning of the eyebrow, just up and over from the bridge of the nose.

Releases: Trauma, hurt, sadness, restlessness, frustration, impatience, restlessness and dread.

Allows: Peace and emotional healing. (Bladder Meridian)

♦ ♦ SE (4) Side of Eye Point - Located on the dominant side at the end of the eyebrow, this point falls on the boney protrusion at the leading edge of the temple.

Releases: Rage, anger, resentment, fear of change and muddled thinking.

Allows: Clarity and compassion. (Gall Bladder Meridian)

♦ ♦ UE (5) Under Eye Point - Located on the bone underneath the eye, directly under the pupil.

Releases: Fear, anxiety, emptiness, worry, nervousness and disappointment.

Allows: Contentment, calmness, and feeling safe. "All is well'. (Stomach Meridian)

♦ ♦ UN (6) Under Nose Point - Located under the nose, in the little crevice above the upper lip.

Releases: Embarrassment, powerlessness, shame, guilt, grief, fear of ridicule, fear of failure and psychological reversals.

Allows: Self-acceptance, self-empowerment, and compassion for self and others. (Governing Meridian)

♦ ♦ CH (7) Chin Point - Located just under the bottom lip, in the depression between the lip and the chin.

Releases: Confusion, uncertainty, shame, embarrassment and second guessing decisions.

Allows: Clarity, certainty, confidence, and self-acceptance. (Central Meridian)

♦ ♦ CB (8) Collar Bone Point - Just below the knob of the collarbone and next to the depression below the Adam 's apple

Releases: Psychological reversal, feeling stuck, indecision, worry, and general stress.

Allows: Ease in moving forward, confidence, and clarity. (Kidney Meridian - Adrenal Gland Function)

♦ ♦ UA (9) Under Arm Point - About six inches directly below the arm pit (on the bra strap for the women).

Releases: Guilt, worry, obsessing, hopelessness, insecurity, and poor self esteem.

Allows: Clarity, confidence, relaxation, and compassion for self and others. (Spleen Meridian)

Energy Overcharge

HYPER? OVER-EXCITED? BATTERIES OVER-CHARGED?

OVER-ENERGY CORRECTION
Cook's Hook-up with Energy Imagery

1. Sit supported comfortably in a chair, or you may do this exercise effectively lying on your back with knees comfortably up to relax your back.

2. Cross your left ankle over right. You might think of this as an Earth Lock.

3. Cross your right hand over left at the wrist. Reach down toward the earth (or toward your feet if lying down). Imagine reaching way, way down to the center of the earth. Clasp the sacred energy radiating from the earth's glowing core. Now lock in your connection to the radiant Heart of Mother Earth.

4. Slowly draw your clasped hands up, drawing radiant earth energy up to your body. As your elbows start to bend, tuck your clasped hands under and up.

5. Draw Mother Earth's radiant energy slowly up through the center core of your body to your mid-upper chest. This thymus area is known as the High Heart or Soul Seat. (If you are familiar with the chakra system of energy centers, sense yourself drawing this glowing cord of sacred earth energy up through root and sacral chakras, through solar and heart chakras, all the way to the High Heart.)

6. Rest your clasped hands quietly over the High Heart, creating a Heart Lock.

7. Then mentally draw the glowing energy line straight upward from High Heart through your throat, brow and crown-of-head energy centers, and even farther, far beyond your crown, all the way to your Divine Source, wherever that is for you. There you might visualize a Sky or Heaven Lock.

8. Notice now, the energy connection you have created - a secure and radiant cord from the glowing Heart of Mother Earth up through your own radiant High Heart and all the way to the Universal Source or Heart of Heaven.

9. For your breathing pattern, inhale slowly through your nose, tongue to the roof of your mouth, collecting energy (qi or ch'i or prana), and draw that energy down through your glowing center core, all the way down to Mother Earth.

10. Exhale through your mouth, tongue down, surrendering all the ch'i or prana your energy system no longer needs, releasing it to the Earth for recycling.

11. Now, gently, quietly hold this position, and continue breathing slowly and deeply, for 30 seconds to 2 minutes, or until you feel centered, calm and clear.

The Over-Energy Correction (Cook's Hook-up) can serve as an effective and peaceful preparation for meditation. Just relax your hands and slip easily into your usual meditation procedure, benefiting from your present calm and clarity.

Brain Waves and Age

From birth to four, babies' brains operate in the delta state, with brain waves running below 4 cycles per second. In adults, this level of brain wave activity is experienced in the deepest levels of sleep.

From four to seven, children operate in theta state, with brain waves running between four and seven cycles per second. In adults, this level of brain wave activity is experienced during sleep and also during states of fear when the body goes into a 'fight or flight' response. This is a powerful level from which to initiate change. In this state, we only need one or two experiences of learning to change behaviour.

From the ages seven to fourteen, we live in the alpha state of seven to fourteen cycles per second. In adults, this is associated with light sleep, meditation, or eyes closed relaxation. At this level effective learning can take place after about 21 repetitions. Practice a new behaviour for 21 consecutive days and that behaviour becomes a habit. Research has shown that strong levels of physical healing can take place when the brain is at 10 cycles per second.

From puberty through adulthood the brain operates in the beta state, 14 - 21 cycles per second. This is experienced in the normal state of eyes open, awake and alert. In this state it may take many thousands of repetitions to learn a new behaviour. To create significant change in our lives at this level takes extensive deal of time and effort.

Theta Brain Waves and Hypnosis

Our amazing brains have five different brain waves:
Beta,
Alpha,
Theta,
Delta and
Gamma.

These brain waves of the human mind are constantly in motion.

The brain is consistently producing waves in all of these frequencies.

Everything that you do and everything you say is regulated by the frequency of your brain waves.

A Theta state is a very deep state of relaxation. It is one of the states used in hypnosis.

Theta brain waves slow to a frequency of 4-7 cycles per second.

When your mind is in a theta wave state, it communicates easily with an area inside the brain referred to as the Central Cell or Master Cell located in the Pineal Gland. This is the CREATION POINT for sending messages to the rest of the body. Imagine having a strong connection to your own Renewable Source of Creation!

Theta brain waves can be thought of as the subconscious which can be called the mind of our body. This is the part of our mind layered between the conscious and the unconscious, holding memories and sensations. Theta brain waves also govern our attitudes, our beliefs and our behaviors.

Theta brain waves are always creative and inspirational. This is where we experience our spiritual sensations.

Matrix Energetics: All things are possible.

This is a synopsis of what I got out of Richard Bartlett's book, Matrix Energetics:

Once you are able to believe in a possibility other than what you have believed or experienced, … to entertain that a new idea could be possible,… you have entered into a realm where all things are possible.

Some people wonder what is real… Well… Even if we are making it all up… We are not sure… and we don’t care… because we are able to do things that we have never imagined before… Imagine a different reality…

Just as everyone seems to agree that they are seeing someone wearing a red shirt….. they all believe the shirt is RED…. But from a scientific point of view…. It is not RED ….. it is every color but RED…… RED is the one color that is not there….. so it is the one that is being reflected back to our eyes….. This is an example of how our perceptions can trick us and may be totally off….

[Hypnosis] brings the realms of science and art together. Art represents the language of the imagination… while science transforms the art into practical laws of creating what you desire… the reliable experience of solid, observable results.

I am going to teach you to allow for a major change in your life. NOW with your unconscious permission, releasing into your world … accepting the possibility of this occurring… shedding preconceptions and limiting concepts… entering a highly creative environment... And move forward into the desired state of change NOW… where everything is possible…

We form our reality from infinite possibilities. Things exist because we have thought them into existence. Start to become aware of the energy patterns that make up that existence. All of our systems are organic structures with the smallest unit being a photon of light.

Ultimately we are just a pattern of high energy photons held in patterns and waves, which can be transformed into anything we choose. We are composed of light and information – patterns of energy. Our bodies are living crystalline energy. The physical or material world we experience with our senses springs into existence when we focus our attention. The coherent focus of your attention can cause the wave pattern of what you have chosen to focus on to disassemble and reorganize into a new pattern.

At this level there are infinite amounts of energy in a very, very small amount of time. The energy can not be observed so we don’t know what it is….this is where all possibilities come together…. Where potentially anything can occur in an infinitesimally small amount of time…. our conscious expectations and beliefs of what is or is not possible is shifted in deep reaching and dramatic ways….

Not only do the things that you choose to focus on change, but you change and transform as well. What you imagine can become reality NOW. Let it just happen.

Let go of what you think you know… so that your thoughts can lead you toward a more desirable new outcome. At this level consider the possibility that things can happen instantly. Notice what is different NOW.

Allow yourself to be surprised, delighted and empowered all at the same time. Expand the mind’s window and take a giant step into a larger world of possibility. Create something new and wonderful.

… if you have tucked your imagination into a little box somewhere, I want you to go and find it and let it out right now. Go and find your imagination and wherever it is….grab hold of it…… and put it right in front of your face where you can clearly see it…. Allow it to move forward and merge right in the center of your forehead …. Where, like a rose….it opens and springs forth into bloom, bringing into existence new and magical possibilities for your life.

Focus your creative will on whatever pattern you choose. NOW Relax and allow your mind to drift and float taking your mind completely off the problem. Not only is it easier to do than you think….It may be even easier to do than you can think. Before you know it you will start to imagine and use many new ways of doing things with simplicity and elegance.

Bring your own unique creativity gifts to this process. What you perceive and endow with the power of your creative intent can become your reality…. A real gateway into realms of possibility that transform every aspect of your life NOW.

Make a picture in your mind’s eye, invest it with emotional energy and then have the experience of your picture and its emotional charge as happening in the present moment. Vivid and alive………Choose with great conviction a state of possibility where the perfect outcome can come to life.

It all starts with establishing the proper perspective, as you move forward from there, until your life matches something that previously only lived in your imagination. Notice and feel the connection. Link with your imagination. Feel and sense this happening NOW. Allow a sense of love and appreciation and well-being to well up in your heart. Be full of joy….creating balance, coherence and harmony. Re-envision it NOW.

What you imagine at the level of photons has tremendous power to change the patterns of light and information. Focus your imagination on this level where everything is made of light energy. Light waves of information. Let go and allow the idea of “you:” as separate from anything else to simply “ go away” for a moment.

Trust your own ability to allow this to happen in whatever way works best for you. You contain within you the keys to inestimable power and limitless possibility, the consciousness of an infinite realm of miraculous possibility. This is an act of creation… you simply “are” and there is nothing to “do”. Begin to grasp the scope and the depth of the possibilities that may be beyond your capacity to imagine.

Move into a neutral state where your mind stands still. We can learn to move into neutral, a state of nothing, an empty set, free of limitations that allows for greater and more powerful outcomes. When we embrace the “nothing” we gain access to the “All”.

Nothing is actually determined as the past. Both the past and the future are connected to the present as possibilities. The past is configured by the way you remember it. You are able to “move” into your past and reorganize it. Allow a different, more beneficial outcome as a possibility.

Old patterns can be resolved right in that instant. Travel back to when something “wasn’t” … travel back in time to “before”…. and release old patterns and resolve the issue or pattern completely. Ask for a different response.

RE-establish a flexibility of consciousness in which the patterns that hold that event together as a remembered thing can be loosened enough to allow your mind to re-code and enact the sequence of those events differently now.

To see, hear and feel what is possible opens the doors to all things in life. …. And this seems to come quite naturally…..making space for the best of all possible outcomes and they are happening… Make a new start in life. …and continue on ………
