Say "YES" to lifelong health and happiness!
My goal is to help you say "YES" to lifelong health and happiness.
We need to become aware of our food choices and flip our traditional thinking upside down, and begin eating a diet rich in vegetables, fruits, nuts, and seeds, because that is where the nutrients are.
The more you choose nutrient rich foods, the more you will be satisfied with fewer calories, and the less you will crave fat and high-calorie foods.
When the ratio of nutrients to calories is high, fat melts away, and health is restored.
When you eat healthfully from nutrient-dense food, you can expect your indigestion, reflux, allergies, asthma, arthritis and many other chronic problems to be resolved. As your food addictions disappear, you will begin to actually taste and enjoy the natural flavors in simple foods.
Not everyone is willing to begin to enjoy eating a lot of great tasting food that just happens to be very healthy.

Check in with how you feel each day.
"Check in with how you feel each day.
Are you tired?
Irritable?
Craving sugar?
Or do you feel energetic, even-keeled and satisfied?
Can you connect the way you feel with any of your food choices?
Marcelle Pick, OB-GYN, NP
has seen some women take gluten and sugar out of their diets and see incredible results.
Some women just add protein to each meal and snack and find a renewed energy they thought they'd lost in their 20s.
Some feel better on a Mediterranean diet, while others enjoy a vegetarian or a low-fat diet.
The point is that you are the only one who can tell which way to eat is best.
Once you find foods you love (and the ones that love you back), you'll be amazed at how good you can feel!"

Accomplishing Goals without Willpower
Your conscious mind is only able to process approximately 50 bits of information a second, while your unconscious mind processes approximately 11 million bits per second [Source 3].
That means your unconscious mind processes information about 220 THOUSAND TIMES FASTER than your conscious mind.
Much of the time, your conscious mind is actually the bottleneck towards effecting true change, as its main role is getting you through the day in the here and now AND setting long term goals. (Researchers call this "Executive Control.")
The Trick Is to Have the Triggers for Your Desired Behaviors Reside in Your Unconscious Mind
For example, if your goal is weight control, you would naturally want your unconscious mind to automatically desire healthy green foods, water, healthy portions, exercise, etc… without having to think about it consciously.
If your goal is to be more productive, you would want the actions of setting goals, rewarding yourself for success, focusing on your projects to be automatic.
If you have to consciously think about it all the time, you will exhaust your resources.
If your goal is to have a better relationship, you would want to use hypnosis to program in natural triggers for listening, paying attention, giving space, and showing empathy, instead of always having to think about them.

Hypnosis Aided Weight Loss
There are many complex factors involved in weight loss.
The goal is to identify and remove the blocks that are interfering with permanent weight loss and to learn to listen to your own body's intuition or Inner Wisdom. Hypnosis allows you to eliminate old negative programming and reprograms your subconscious mind with positive thoughts, images and behaviors. You can even identify and release whatever has been holding you back from achieving the results you want in your life. Every thought affects the body in some way.
How do you reach the root of the problem (beyond just trying to change behavior)?
At Hypnosis Seattle, I include techniques that are specifically designed to reach the root of the problem, such as Parts Integration, Timeline, Future Pacing, NLP, Body Talk, Core Beliefs, Re-programming, Inner Voice, Anchoring, HeartMath, Somatic Healing, Ho’oponopono, Post Hypnotic Signals, and a process using Guided Imagery that resolves any hidden conflicts that may have kept you from reaching your goal. There are also breathing techniques and a process called meridian tapping that I may teach you and you can use whenever you choose.
What level of long-term success have you had with clients seeking help with weight loss?
CLICK HERE for clients testimonials about how Hypnosis has helped them reach their goals.
How many sessions does it take to get results?
Sometimes only one or two sessions are needed to begin positive changes, and other times, there are more complex factors involved and it takes more sessions to address what comes up for each individual. Results are ultimately achieved by applying these techniques over time.
Do you consider weight loss through hypnosis to be particularly challenging since it's not a habit you can quit altogether?
The following information is from The American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH) which is the largest U.S. organization for health and mental health care professionals using clinical hypnosis.
In a 9-week study of two weight management groups (one using hypnosis for weight loss and one not using hypnosis), the hypnosis for weight loss group continued to get results in the two-year follow-up, while the non-hypnosis group showed no further results (Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1985).
In a study of 60 women separated into hypnosis versus non-hypnosis groups, the groups using hypnosis lost an average of 17 pounds, while the non-hypnosis group lost an average of only .5 pounds (Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1986).
In a comparison of the results of adding hypnosis to weight loss treatment across multiple studies showed that adding hypnosis increased weight loss by an average of 97% during treatment, and even more importantly increased the effectiveness POST TREATMENT by over 146%. This shows that hypnosis works even better over time (Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1996).
If one is already conscious of their eating habits - will the change hypnosis offers be sufficient?
Also, when under stress, whether it is physical, emotional, mental or environmental, real or imagined, the stress hormone cortisol is released. Cortisol is produced in the adrenal glands which rest on top of the kidneys. These glands also release adrenalin, as an immediate response to stress and cortisol is released under prolonged periods of stress. Both adrenalin and cortisol are necessary in small amounts for us to adapt to stress effectively. In high levels, however, they can have many negative effects on our health including storage of unneeded fat. Also, cortisol shuts down your ability to absorb the nutrients from the food you eat causing your body to send hungers signals to eat more.
It seems that mental or emotional stress is the most harmful to us because it is not followed by a relaxation response in the way it happens with most physical stress. Our brain and body fail to return to a resting, healthy, balanced state. This can lead to weight gain or prevent weight loss.
Hypnosis allows you to train your brain and body to return to a healthy, relaxed state automatically.

Start a healthy dialogue with your cells.
Studies of laughter therapy in type 2 diabetics showed that as many as 23 different genes were altered as a byproduct of laughter. Not only that, but the activity of several blood enzymes and their precursors changed as well, in ways that were beneficial toward preventing a range of metabolic imbalances.
So one of the ways that we can send positive signals to our genes, cells, and proteins is by cultivating positive emotions. At the same time, addressing sources of negative emotions — particularly trauma from our past that is a continual source of sadness, guilt, shame, or anger — can reduce the flow of negative messages to our genes and cells.
Women can influence their genes and aren’t doomed to being overweight because of their heredity. For many women, this means changing long-standing ways of thinking or acting.
Very few women in our culture go through life without ever experiencing a powerful, and often unhealthy, relationship with food. Understanding the feelings that trigger unhealthy eating habits can take you a long way toward changing those habits.
Learn to love and accept yourself. Focus on your health, not your weight. Forgive yourself and step back toward balance. If you can’t do it all, do what you can.
It’s so important that women realize that we can communicate with our genes and get them to change their behavior. We talk to them all the time through our nutritional choices and the patterns of our emotions, whether we realize it or not. Where our metabolic set point and weight are concerned, we can start by having a conversation with our body by paying attention to our emotions, our nutrition, and our exercise.

How to Rewire Your Brain to End Food Cravings
"Our brains are biologically driven to seek and devour high-calorie, fatty foods. The difference is that I have learned how to control those primitive parts of my brain. Anyone can this if they know how. In this article, I will share 3 steps to help you counteract those primitive parts of your brain that have you chasing high-calorie, nutrient-poor foods. But before you can update your brain’s biological software, you’ve got to understand why it developed in the first place.
Calories = Survival
The brain’s desire to binge on rich food is a genetic holdover from the days of hunter-gatherers. Given what scientists know today about our early ancestors it makes sense that our brains are hardwired to fixate on high-calorie foods. It’s a survival mechanism. Eating as many calories as possible, whenever possible, allowed our ancestors to store excess calories as fat and survive lean times. That approach worked well for 2.4 million years, but today it’s making us sick and fat.
That’s because our brains haven’t evolved as fast as our food environment. The human brain evolved over 2.5 million years. And, with the exception of the last 10,000 years, people only ate animals they could hunt and wild-plants they could gather. Imagine if you could only eat what you caught or picked! The variety of foods hunter-gatherers ate paled in comparison to the 40,000 different food items we can buy in the average big-box grocery store today(1).
And whereas we have easy access to food 24/7, drive-thru meals were not an option for hunter-gatherers. Not to mention that hunting and gathering was hard work. Early humans expended lots of calories acquiring their food, so they needed to eat high-calorie foods to offset the loss. The average hunter-gatherer got up to 60 percent of his calories from animal foods, such as muscle meat, fat, and organ meat, and the other 40 percent from plants(2).
That balance between protein and carbohydrates in the diet is where the problem lies, but it’s not what you think. Carbohydrates have gotten a bad rap, but they are the single most important nutrient for long-term health and weight loss. But I’m not talking about bagels and donuts. I’m talking about plant foods that more closely resemble what our ancestors ate. Hunter-gatherers ate fruit, tubers, seeds, and nuts. These are whole foods. They are full of fiber, vitamins, minerals and disease- and weight-busting colorful phytochemicals. They also take time to digest. Therefore, they raise blood sugar slowly, which balances metabolism and offers a steady stream of energy. Whole foods have all the right information and turn on all the right genes.
But the past 10,000 years saw the advent of both agriculture and industrialization. And, in the blink of an eye (by evolutionary standards), the human diet got turned upside down. Today, 60 percent of our calories come from things that hunter-gatherers wouldn’t even recognize as food. The bulk of those items—cereal grains, sugary drinks, refined oils and dressings—are simple carbohydrates(3). The primitive brain sees an endless supply of easy energy. Left unchecked, our bodies pay the price. The result is a two-fronted epidemic of obesity and diabetes in our country—what I call diabesity.
The Blood Sugar Cascade
When you eat simple carbohydrates, whether as sugar or as starch, they pass almost instantaneously from the gut into the bloodstream. Within seconds blood sugar levels start to rise. To counter the increase in sugar, the body releases insulin. Insulin is the key that unlocks the cells and allows sugar to enter. As sugar enters the cells, the amount of sugar in the blood declines and the body restores homeostasis.
An abundance of simple sugars in the diet goads the body into releasing more and more insulin. Eventually, the cellular locks get worn down from overuse. Like a key that’s lost its teeth, insulin loses its ability to easily open the cellular door. The cells become numb to the effects of insulin. As a result, the body pumps out more and more of the hormone to keep its blood sugar levels in check. Eventually, this cycle leads to a dangerous condition called insulin resistance. Insulin resistance—at the root of diabesity—causes you to gain belly fat, raises your blood pressure, messes up your cholesterol, makes you infertile, kills your sex drive, makes you depressed, tired, and demented, and even causes cancer.
3 Ways to Reprogram your Brain
Luckily there are ways to rewire the primitive parts of your brain by making good food choices. Here are 3 ways to get started. For more suggestions on how to wrestle control from your reptilian brain, see Chapter 15 of The Blood Sugar Solution.
•Balance blood sugar. Blood sugar highs and lows drive primitive food cravings. If you get famished between meals, that’s a sign that your blood sugar is crashing. When blood sugar is low, you’ll eat anything. To better balance blood sugar, eat a small meal or snack that includes healthy protein, like seeds or nuts, every 3 to 4 hours.
•Eliminate liquid calories and artificial sweeteners. Early humans didn’t reach for soda or fruit juices when they got thirsty. Sodas are full of chemicals and high fructose corn syrup. Processed fruit juices are awash in sugar. Try sticking with water and green tea. Green tea contains plant chemicals that are good for your health. And, last but not least, don’t succumb to the diet-drink trap. The artificial sweeteners in diet drinks fool the body into thinking it is ingesting sugar, which creates the same insulin spike as regular sugar.
•Eat a high-quality protein at breakfast. Ideally, you’re eating quality protein at every meal, but, if you need to prioritize one meal, choose breakfast. Studies show that waking up to a healthy protein, such as eggs, nuts, seeds, nut butters or a protein shake (see my UltraShake recipe) help people lose weight, reduce cravings and burn calories.
Ultimately, you may not control your genes but you do control what and how you eat. Since taking control and changing my diet, my brain no longer caves into the cravings and urgings that seduce the reptilian brain. The most powerful tool you have to transform your health is your fork! Use it well and you will thrive."

The effect snacking on almonds has on weight.
Researchers divided 65 obese adults into two groups. One group was given a low-calorie diet where 18 percent of the calories came from fat. The other group was given an almond enriched diet. Thirty-nine percent of their calories came from the almond's fat.
Both groups ate an identical number of calories and amount of protein.
After 6 months the group fed the almonds experienced a 62 percent greater reduction in body mass index, a 50 percent greater reduction in waist size, and a 56 percent greater reduction in body fat. Of course these results were measured against the non- almond eating group.
Almonds are loaded with healthy monounsaturated fat. This type of fat absorbs vitamins, keeps LDL levels low, regulates insulin, and reduces inflammation.
And as opposed to the carbohydrates present in snack foods, monounsaturated fat doesn't give you an insulin spike. Your body converts carbohydrates into blood sugar which is then changed into glycogen. This glycogen is stored in your liver and muscles.
But when your liver and muscles have reached maximum storage capacity, any excess is stored as fat. Your blood sugar becomes low and you feel hungry. That's when most of us reach for high-carb snack and junk foods. It becomes a vicious circle.
A study was published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition where participants were pre-diabetic. Researchers had them consume 20 percent of their total calories from almonds.
At the end of the 16-week study period, study participants had a significant improvement in LDL cholesterol levels and measures of insulin sensitivity.
Instead of reaching for snack foods in your favorite vending machine, buy organically grown almonds instead. "

Food and Stress
"Many of us turn to food when we're stressed, but did you know timing your meals and snacks can also help limit stress?
When you let yourself get too hungry, you can experience low blood sugar levels.
This puts additional stress on your body and makes your adrenal glands work even harder -- which may lead to an adrenal imbalance with symptoms like fatigue, weight gain, and irritability.
We recommend the following schedule to help lessen your adrenal burden:
• If possible, eat breakfast by 8:00 AM or within an hour of getting up.
• Try to eat lunch between 11:00 AM and noon.
• Eat a nutritious snack between 2:00 and 3:00 PM to get you through the natural energy dip around 3:00 or 4:00 PM.
• Make an effort to eat dinner around 5:00 or 6:00 PM.
The signs of an adrenal problem include: fatigue, weight gain, bouts of acne, sugar cravings, and intolerance to cold.
People who are chronically stressed may have adrenals that are producing higher levels of cortisol and adrenaline than they can sustain, and eventually become worn down, even exhausted. Without properly functioning adrenals, the body loses its ability to settle down, relax, sleep, and rejuvenate.
Adaptisol and Serinisol
" Adaptisol™ is formulated to address the most common symptoms of overworked adrenals, and using the latest research on phytotherapy to reduce the negative side effects of stress. Adaptisol is a natural, holistic adrenal-support supplement, containing:
Astragalus Root — used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for thousands of years to support the immune system and help protect the body from physical, mental, or emotional stress.
Siberian Ginseng (Eleutherococcus senticosus) — prized for its ability to reduce fatigue, increase energy, and enhance mental clarity. Also widely used to boost the immune system and immune system response.
Rhodiola — a medicinal plant used for centuries in Russia and Scandinavia to improve response to physical stress, enhance immune function, and reduce fatigue.
Cordyceps — an East Asian extract used since antiquity to promote overall good health and, more specifically, to replenish immune system function. It also appears to act as an antioxidant in the body, protecting it from free-radical damage.
Adaptisol™ provides an increase in energy levels and endurance, bolsters the immune system, helps the body’s natural ability to adapt to stress, and enhances mental clarity."
Serinisol™ contains phosphatydlserine which helps to support reduction of cortisol (stress hormone) levels to improve sleep, reduce anxious feelings, enhance mental clarity, and improve your mood."

Imagine yourself sometime in the near future having gotten rid of all of the excess weight you no longer want or need and having lifelong healthy eating and living habits.
Hypnosis Improves Weight Loss Results
This study from the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology has proven that hypnosis improves your results both immediately and over the long term. In this study, dieters were divided into two groups, one group using hypnosis, the other not. The group who used hypnosis lost an average of 17 pounds. The group that didn't, lost an average of only 1/2 of a pound in the same time period.
The study found that adding hypnosis to a standard weight loss regime increased weight loss by an average of 97% during the study, but more importantly, hypnosis increased their weight loss effectiveness AFTER treatment by over 146%. (Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1996).
Remember that hypnosis for weight loss can be beneficial for both maintaining motivation during your weight loss program and also for producing results that last.

Peppermint and Cayenne Red Pepper Flakes support weight loss
"Hello,
When you are trying to shed pounds, it is all about taking in fewer calories.
And, any little tip or trick helps, right?
There are two items that may very well be in your cupboard already...
And the best part is, these are not things that cost a ton of money – these are items you can find at pretty much ANY local store!
Time to Hit The Grocery Store
Peppermint is the first new product you need to pick up!
You can find peppermint oil at a health food store, and it isn’t costly.
Experts are now saying even just the mere smell of the oil will make you eat less.
For a quick fix, take a sniff of some oil before a meal...OR...super easy – just chew some peppermint gum throughout the day.
Experiment & Results
In one study printed in the North American Journal of Psychology in 2007 at Wheeling University in Virginia, 40 volunteers were asked to sniff peppermint every 2 hours for five days.
After that, for another 5 days, they were given a placebo to sniff.
When the researchers compared the results, during the week they sniffed peppermint, on average, they consumed 1,800 fewer calories!(1)
That would be a little over ½ a week just by sniffing peppermint.
Mint is also a mild stimulant...so it might give you that push you need to get to the gym, too
Add Spice To Your Life
The second product is even easier to find, and I bet many of you already use something like this or own it...
Next time you fill your plate, simply add Red Pepper Flakes, (also called Cayenne flakes) to your meal.
Peppers, release capsaicin which fights fat and helps reduce your appetite.
Please note: store-bought hot sauce contains capsaicin too, but can contain sugar and other non-natural ingredients. Try a jalapeno or chilies for a fresh kick of hot, tasty spice, without extra calories or sugar.

Get healthy to lose weight!
"Why am I gaining this weight?”"
"We hear this question every day in our medical practice. And no wonder. Despite our best efforts, most women gain weight in perimenopause — especially around our waist and hips — even if we’re dieting.
Why is this happening to us? The answer lies in the remarkable links between hormonal balance and body fat.
Set aside the basic myth behind most diets — that weight control is just a matter of calorie control. That's untrue and misleading, and has made a lot of women suffer unnecessarily.
Can hormonal imbalance cause excess weight gain?
The first and most basic link is between insulin metabolism and body fat. Most of us eat the conventional low-fat, high-carbohydrate diet, with lots of processed foods (pasta, breads, most snacks, beer and wine, etc.). Over time this diet commonly creates a condition known as insulin resistance. When you are insulin resistant your body converts every calorie it can into fat — even if you’re dieting. And it won't let you burn fat when you exercise.
A second basic link is between stress and body fat. Stress hormones block weight loss. This is sometimes called the "famine effect": despite adequate food, the body interprets prolonged stress as a famine, and once again, the body thinks it should store every spare calorie as fat. Which it does very effectively. Most women are under tremendous amounts of stress — much of it prolonged and without let-up — which leads to adrenal fatigue and intractable weight gain.
These two links work together. Many of us combine a high-stress life with a low-fat, high-carb diet. This creates such a powerful hormonal imbalance that weight gain is almost inevitable. Yo-yo dieting — strict dieting followed by a rebound in weight — will only exacerbate the pattern because it stresses the body and damages your metabolism.
High-carb diets also lead to cravings. Because your body can’t readily maintain optimal blood sugar and serotonin levels, you are compelled to have snacks and caffeine to make yourself feel better. But they only exacerbate your insulin resistance and adrenal exhaustion — a vicious circle — while adding body fat.
Note that artificial sweeteners are not a solution; they’re part of the problem. They may lack calorie content, but they mimic sugar so well that the body produces insulin to metabolize them — contributing to insulin resistance. They actually lower your blood sugar level, which is why most contain caffeine to compensate.
The impact of hormonal changes on weight gain:
Another factor in stubborn weight gain is estrogen loss. As the estrogen production of your ovaries falls, your body turns to secondary production sites, one of which is body fat. If your body is struggling to maintain its hormonal balance, body fat becomes more valuable. Of course, if you are stressed and on a low-fat diet, your body is struggling. This is another vicious circle.
Thyroid imbalance is another common contributor. Thyroid hormones have an intimate relationship with the other hormones in your body, including estrogen and progesterone, and an imbalance in one is often associated with an imbalance in another. Because the thyroid plays a major role in orchestrating the body’s metabolism, an underactive thyroid almost always leads to weight gain, no matter how much you diet or exercise.
Heal yourself, and lose the weight:
By thinking only of calorie control, we actually starve our bodies of the nutrients we need to maintain health, while signaling our bodies to put on weight. Neither outcome is desirable! And you end up feeling defeated by the whole process — as though willpower had anything to do with it.
Our philosophy on weight control is based on what has worked in our practice over the last 25 years. We know that you have to get healthy before you can lose weight. You can’t lose weight to get healthy. But if you will heal your body and try to balance your life, you will then find you achieve and maintain your ideal weight."

Many clients have multiple issues that come up even if they come in with only one problem they want to solve. Hypnosis and the other processes I use are able to resolve complex issues on every level, even if you are not consciously aware of them.
Some clients discover the cause of one problem and clear it and find that other issues are resolved as well. I call it "extra wellness" when several problems get resolved while you are working on another.
Balance your body, mind and spirit, reduce the effects of stress, and heal your emotions with fun, easy, safe and effective processes that work on an unconscious level.
