Food and Stress

"Many of us turn to food when we're stressed, but did you know timing your meals and snacks can also help limit stress?

When you let yourself get too hungry, you can experience low blood sugar levels.

This puts additional stress on your body and makes your adrenal glands work even harder -- which may lead to an adrenal imbalance with symptoms like fatigue, weight gain, and irritability.

We recommend the following schedule to help lessen your adrenal burden:

• If possible, eat breakfast by 8:00 AM or within an hour of getting up.

• Try to eat lunch between 11:00 AM and noon.

• Eat a nutritious snack between 2:00 and 3:00 PM to get you through the natural energy dip around 3:00 or 4:00 PM.

• Make an effort to eat dinner around 5:00 or 6:00 PM.

The signs of an adrenal problem include: fatigue, weight gain, bouts of acne, sugar cravings, and intolerance to cold.

1. Grab a piece of paper and confess to yourself in writing the factors that keep you afraid of change. For example jealousy, lack, loneliness or failure.

2. Close your eyes and imagine a bright, powerful light engulfing you, lifting all your worries away and clearing your mind of all fear. Feel the warmth of the light surge through you, penetrating every part of your body.

3. Bask in this light for a while, feeling it in every part of your body. Radiate it, expand it out 10, 50, 100 feet around you until it grows bigger than your home, city, state, country and eventually even bigger than the planet.

4. Now recall the thoughts, beliefs and feelings that lead you to a place where you are fearful of change. Let the light overpower and banish all these unwanted elements. Do this as many times as you
need to clear a particular block related to fear of change.
